Libre Languages, LLC ("Libre Languages", "we", "us", or "our") operates the LibreReader platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
We collect: (1) account information you provide, such as your email address, name, and username, through our authentication provider Clerk; (2) content you create, import, upload, or scan, including text, PDF and image files, and audio, along with data we derive from it such as vocabulary and translations; (3) chat and speaking-practice messages and transcripts; (4) learning and usage data, such as vocabulary progress, reading activity, and feature interactions; (5) subscription and billing details processed by Apple or Clerk, as applicable (we never store full payment card numbers); and (6) standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and device information.
LibreReader uses artificial intelligence and machine-learning services to power features including translations and word and phrase explanations, AI chat and speaking practice, optical character recognition (OCR) for scanned and PDF imports, text-to-speech and speech-to-text, and linguistic analysis of text. To provide these features, content you submit — including text you import or create, scanned images and PDF files, chat messages, and audio you record — may be sent to third-party AI providers solely to generate results for you. These providers include Google (Gemini and Cloud Natural Language), OpenRouter and the model providers it routes requests to (such as Anthropic), and ElevenLabs. We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to train our own AI models. Audio you record for speaking practice is transcribed and then discarded rather than stored.
We use your information to provide and improve the platform, process payments, track your learning progress, personalize your experience, and communicate with you about your account. We use third-party services for authentication and billing (Clerk), email (Resend), text-to-speech (ElevenLabs), and analytics.
We share limited data with trusted service providers that help us operate the platform, each only for the purpose described: Clerk (authentication and subscription billing), Supabase (database and file storage), Google, OpenRouter, and ElevenLabs (the AI and audio features described above), Modal (linguistic and document processing), Forvo (pronunciation audio), Upstash (rate limiting and background job queueing), Resend (transactional and product email), Cloudflare Turnstile (bot protection), Sentry (error monitoring), and Vercel (hosting). These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. We do not sell your personal information.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. Your payment information is handled securely by Clerk and is never stored on our servers. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information and to object to or restrict certain processing. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use it for targeted advertising. You can request deletion of your account and associated data from account settings or by emailing privacy@librelanguages.com. Where applicable law provides equal-treatment protections, we will not deny services, charge different prices, or provide a different quality of service because you exercised your privacy rights.
We retain personal information only for as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal, security, accounting, dispute, or backup obligations, or for another disclosed purpose. When you request account deletion, we schedule deletion of your account data through our systems. Some provider copies may remain until they are deleted or overwritten under that provider's procedures. Retention can vary by data type and provider.
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or want to exercise your data rights, contact us at privacy@librelanguages.com.
